A Matter of Balance Workshop

   Balance Workshop
A Matter of Balance
A Matter of Balance meets once a week for 2 hours over the course of 8 weeks and enables participants to reduce the fear of falling by learning to view falls as controllable, setting goals for increasing activity levels, making small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

The curriculum includes group discussions, mutual problem solving, role-play activities, exercise training, and assertiveness training. Participants learn about the importance of exercise in preventing falls and practice exercises to improve strength, coordination, and balance. Guest health care professionals will attend to present on medication safety and falls, as well as home safety and learn to get up and down safely.

The workshops begin on Friday, October 11th, and will continue every Friday until December 6th, with the exception of November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving. Detailed dates are provided below.
