About Jamestown Village

Our Jamestown Village Steering Committee is made up of residents in the Jamestown community who have been working with The Village Common of RI to bring this village of volunteers to Jamestown. A recent survey highlighted the need for additional services in our community leading to the formation of this local group. Anyone interested in becoming involved, whether on the Steering committee, as a volunteer, or as a member receiving services, is welcome. Volunteers can be members and members can also volunteer. Please reach out to any of us for more information.

Along with other local villages across the state, we make up The Village Common of Rhode Island. The Village Common of RI is a volunteer-driven, membership-based, nonprofit organization with villages in Aquidneck Island, Barrington, Burrillville, Edgewood, Glocester, Providence and Westerly. Each village has members and the volunteers who assist them, supported by the small administrative staff of The Village Common of RI.

One of the organizers said, “While Jamestown is an especially caring and close community, we knew there were a number of residents in need of more assistance than is currently available. Our goal is to bridge that gap so that our residents who need support can live healthier, fuller lives while remaining in Jamestown.”
