This special walk is part of AARP of RI’s Walktober event. The walk meets rain or shine. We will gather at our starting point at 10:45 am, with the walk starting promptly at 11:00 am from the corner of Green and Fountain Streets. Our walk audit will focus on the walkability of our one-mile route through historic downtown Providence.
On our one mile walk audit through historic downtown Providence, we will be checking for sidewalk, street, and crosswalk safety, with the goal of enhancing our pedestrian-friendly city. Our starting point will be at the corner of Greene and Fountain Streets, at the back of the Providence Public Library building. Our walk will continue as follows:
- Right on Washington St. Left on Jackson Way through Cathedral
- Square Left on Broad St. (becomes Weybosset)
- Left on Mathewson St.
- Left on Westminster
- Right on Empire
- Left on Washington St., OR
- Left on Fountain St.
Back to our starting point!
Everyone is welcome! Wear sturdy shoes, as parts of walk are uneven. Walk leaders will carry red AARP umbrellas to identify the walk group.
