Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTQ+ Individuals

About this event

Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTQ+ Individuals

Join us for an in-person training for our Circle of Pride Volunteers. Providing a safe environment for LGBTQ+ individuals is a primary goal of the Circle of Pride, and this workshop will focus on improving participants' understanding of LGBTQ+ identified individuals. Topics will include language, myths, use of pronouns, and boundaries, and all are encouraged to attend.

This event will be led by two Providence Village volunteers, Linda Ciolfi and Gary Moroch. Linda Ciolfi is a retired clinical social worker who was employed in the mental health field for 40 years. After clinical work in various agencies she spent 16 years in private practice, where she specialized in working with members of the LGBTQ community. Ciolfi is a member of the LGBTQ community and has provided trainings on this topic for the last several years. Gary Moroch has resided in Providence for 40 years and retired as an educator and counselor in the Providence schools. Upon completion of extensive training with Rhode Island Project AIDS, he volunteered during the HIV/AIDS epidemic to work with and support gay men infected with the virus. Gary remains active as a public speaker who addresses LGBTQ issues throughout the community.
