The presentation on the 9th will be a Medicare 101 or ABCs of Medicare. This presentation is geared towards helping someone understand the basics and navigate what to expect when turning 65, coming off employer coverage or joining Medicare because of a disability.
October 23 at 4pm via Zoom
The second presentation will be designed for people already on Medicare and explain changes for 2025. There are significant updates around changes to enrollment and pharmacy regulations predicted to take effect January 2025. These changes could affect those already enrolled in Medicare as well as new enrollees. Even the most seasoned recipient many not realize how these changes will affect their current coverage.
Panelists:
  • Tom Rolin: Tom has been involved in health insurance since 1984, first at the Tufts Health Plan then United Healthcare for a total of 12 years. Since 1996 Tom has worked independently as a broker and advisor for employer groups, assisting in the choice of health and dental plans for employees and assisting with plan administration. Beginning in 2011 Tom began to work with people approaching Medicare and by 2013 decided to engage only in the Medicare space. Since then, Tom has worked with thousands of people to help them understand how Medicare works and what their options are. Tom is a graduate of Colgate University and a Warwick resident since 1966. In his free time, he enjoys listening to jazz records and visiting his adult children in Los Angeles with his wife of 39 years.
  • Amy Putrino: Amy has been assisting with Medicare education, decision making, and enrollments since 2011. She founded her own company, MediPlan Advisors, Inc., and works as an Independent Medicare Advisor, helping individuals coordinate Medicare benefits with Medicaid, VA Benefits, Low Income Subsidies, and more. She is a founding member of We Can Help You, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, with a mission of educating and assisting individuals with Medicare and Social Security. She works with her two daughters, Jillian and Jessica, who are also licensed Independent Medicare Advisors.
  • Christine Anderson: Christine Anderson is from The Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging (OHA), which is Rhode Island’s State Unit on Aging. She has been working at OHA for the past eight (8) years where she serves as a Program Manager overseeing programs that help to educate and assist Medicare Beneficiaries with their Medicare options.
Our facilitator is Rebecca Wild-Wesley, retired RN, a gerontologist, and certified care manager and co-chair of the Health & Wellness committee.

Its mission is carried out through the creation of easy-to-understand educational resources and by connecting individuals with local Member Agents who are uniquely qualified to provide thoughtful, practical, un-biased advice. There are no fees for these educational services.
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP): SHIP is a national program that offers unbiased one-on-one assistance, counseling, and education to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to help them make informed decisions about their Medicare options. SHIP services support people with limited incomes, Medicare beneficiaries under the age of 65 with disabilities, and individuals who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.
